World Series of Poker coming to London

London is set to host it’s own leg of the world’s most prestigious poker tournament – the World series of Poker. Harrah’s Entertainment inc, organizers of the WSOP today announced that the World Series of Poker Europe would debut at three London casinos between 6th and 16th September 2007.

WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack commented: “This new tournament has been designed with European players in mind, but registrants from every country are welcome,” said Pollack. “We hope it becomes an annual tradition for poker enthusiasts and a home for WSOP fans after the action concludes in Las Vegas each summer.”

The new tournament will be held at three casinos operated by London Clubs International – Fifty, Leicester Square and the Sportsman. The 10 days of poker climaxes with a £10,000 no-limit texas hold’em Main Event that is likely to attract the leading names in the world of poker.

The announcement of the WSOP Europe adds to speculation that Harrah’s will not be allowing online qualifiers to the traditional Las Vegas WSOP event following recent online gambling legislation in the U.S.
