Premier League 07/08 relegation betting

New boys Derby and odds on favourites for the drop this season at best price 1/2 with Betfred. The Midlands outfit have struggled to attract quality players and are expected to make a quick return to the Championship like so many newly promoted teams to the Premiership have done in the past.

Birmingham are 6/5 to make a quick return to the Championship, despite significant financial backing from a Hong Kong businessman. Steve Bruce has also found it difficult to attract big name players, but does have what it takes to keep Birmingham in the Premiership, as he showed previously when guiding Birmingham to two mid table finishes.

Sunderland are best odds 4/1 to be relegated with totesport. Roy Keaneís reputation along with significant financial backing mean that bookmakers feel Sunderland will survive this season. For those that disagree 4/1 looks a big price.

Wigan look set to struggle this season following the departure of manager Paul Jewell and Captain Leyton Baines. Wigan have failed to attract any high profile players and have been subject to a number of large bets. Bookmakers have cut the odds on Wigan to be relegated, and now the best odds are offered by Betfred at 5/4.

Fulham are another club the bookmakers expect to struggle this season. Betfred offer best price odds of 2/1 about Lawrie Sanchezís men facing the drop. Sanchez has brought in a number of new players from lower divisions who will have a lot to prove in the Premiership.
