World Poker Tour (WPT)
T The World Poker Tour (WPT) is a series of 15 poker tournaments with a $10,000 buy in held in various locations. The WPT began in 2002 and is largely credited with making poker so popular amongst the masses thanks to it’s worldwide TV coverage.
Each WPT event has a main event with a $10,000 main event, along with a couple more smaller buy in events. All poker games that are part of the WPT are no limit texas hold’em. Each WPT event offers online satellite qualifiers from various online poker rooms enabling amateur players to qualify and compete against the big names of professional poker.
Daniel Negreanu, one of the most famous poker players of the 21 st century made his name in WPT events. Having earned over $4 million in tournament winnings from WPT events, he became a household name. Negreanu was named player of the season in WPT season 3.
The WPT is currently in it’s sixth series and is still going from strength to strength. The full schedule for the WPT can be seen below:
